Maryam Korkor and Daniel Korkor are two rock-hewn churches, carved into opposite sides of the same mountain in the Gheralta range at approximately 2,500 meters elevation . Maryam Korkor is one of the largest rock churches in the area, featuring a cross-shaped interior with cruciform pillars, arches, and cupolas supporting a high ceiling, along with colorful biblical murals . Daniel Korkor, located just minutes away along a narrow path with sheer drops, is a smaller two-room structure likely used as a hermitage, containing fine paintings including a Virgin and Child and the Baptism of Christ . Both churches date to approximately the 12th-13th centuries .
