Holy Trinity Cathedral is a monumental Orthodox cathedral in Addis Ababa constructed in the early 1940s to commemorate Ethiopia's victory over Italian occupation . The cathedral features a large copper dome, intricate pinnacles, and interior murals including Afewerk Tekle's depiction of the Holy Trinity . Within the cathedral are the imperial tombs of Emperor Haile Selassie and Empress Menen Asfaw, the Tabot of St. Michael the Archangel returned from Edinburgh in 2002, and two carved imperial thrones of white ebony, ivory, and marble . The churchyard contains the graves of patriarchs, the British suffragette Sylvia Pankhurst, and prominent Ethiopian figures
