Lake Tana is Ethiopia's largest freshwater lake, situated in the north-western highlands. The lake measures approximately 84 kilometers long and 66 kilometers wide, with a maximum depth of 15 meters . Fed by over 60 rivers including the Gilgel Abay, Gumara, and Rib rivers, the lake discharges into the Blue Nile River .
